Oreo obsession goes on. After oreo ice cream, here comes homemade oreo cookies. Many of you, especially on Instagram, asked for recipe on them, but I didn´t have time to make them since basically every shortbread is more time-consuming than majority of cakes. But now, after successful bachelor state exams (yes, I must boast :D), I have plenty of time, for shortbreads and for other, more time-consuming recipes. But let´s get back to oreos. I´m sure you have already eaten them so you know how delicious they are. But homemade oreos are even more delicious. Big amount of cocoa in dough will ensure that they are not too sweet and cream cheese with powdered milk will add creamy, milk taste. I point out that there is no butter in filling, so if you´re not a fan of butter in frosting, these oreos are perfect for you. I stamped cookies, but that´s up to you.
- Cookies:
- 200 g butter
- 250 g all purpose flour
- 230 g sugar
- 110 g cocoa
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- Filling:
- 200 g cream cheese
- 6 tbsp icing sugar
- 3 tbsp powdered milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
-
Mix butter with flour, sugar, cocoa, eggs, baking powder and salt. Process ingredients to form dough. Wrap it in food wrap and put it in a refrigerator for an hour.
-
After an hour roll dough out on a floured work surface. You can stamp dough with cookie stamps. Cut out middle-sized circle cookies, put cookies on baking paper and bake on 180 degrees for 8 – 10 minutes.
-
Let them cool and fill them with filling.
-
Filling: Using a spatula, mix cream cheese with icing sugar, powdered milk and vanilla extract. Fill icing bag with filling, top a cookie with filling and press the second cookie on top.
Huh, this looks easy enough! Wow, I don’t like bought oreos anymore, I find them too sweet. Maybe I should give this one a go.
Thank you, they really are. I agree, they are too sweet for me as well, but these are not. You definitely should 🙂
